Orpen and Tamboti Camps

Both of these camps are located near to the Orpen Gate entrance to Kruger on the western boundary.  We use Orpen Rest Camp primarily as a necessary overnight stop as occasionally due to guests travel arrangements, we are unable to travel further into Kruger because of time and distance constraints.

We use Tamboti Tented Camp, it's a camp comprising a string of just over 20 safari tents dotted along the usually dry Timbavati River.  We also generally use this camp as possibly a “first or last night location” depending on availability of other camps and details of the rest of a clients itinerary.

Game viewing in this area can be very good.  There are some particular routes, waterholes and other key locations we visit in search of the best game viewing opportunities.

Traveling east from the Orpen area the habitat is open tree savanna offering an excellent environment for a variety of wildlife species.  Approximately 15km out of camp we travel adjacent to the Timbavati River which can offer up some great game viewing and photographic opportunities.
