Our safari was the most incredible and wonderful life changing experience!
We can't imagine you'll find another safari operator/owner who has worked in Kruger National Park for over 20 years, has traveled every single road and stayed in all rest camps within the park and conducts private safaris personally!

Kruger Park Private safaris are aimed at you, the wildlife enthusiast.

We advise a minimum of 4 nights but longer stays are highly recommended.  For a real wildlife adventure, 5 to 10 nights or more is what you should aim for.

Kruger is enormous. To capture a sense of wildlife, wilderness and adventure we try to take our guests to areas less frequented by day-tripping tourists which means we need to travel deeper into the park.

The most rewarding safari we offer is from the remote north of Kruger to the south; a private adventure of a lifetime, it's 10 nights of wildlife and wilderness.  Few people ever get to experience such a special and unique safari.

These safaris are private, you don't share accommodation or safari vehicles with other travelers.  Tread Lightly Tours and Safaris practise discretion at all levels.
We don't really recommend day trips to Kruger but if it's all the time you can afford please contact us and we'll go out of our way to accommodate you for the day.  After-all, any amount of time spent in Kruger is time well spent!

Tread Lightly Tours and Safaris have taken several groups and companies on training, reward and incentive trips to Kruger Park.  Please contact us for a safari package to meet your needs.

Weddings  -  as owners of Tread Lightly Tours and Safaris, we were married in Kruger National Park so we feel we know how to plan something special just for you.  Please contact us well in advance, the logistics are complicated!

An African honeymoon enjoyed hidden away in a location deep in the bush is an exquisitely romantic experience.  Whether you're seeking 5 star luxury or something equally romantic yet more affordable, contact us, we'll make it happen for you.
Kruger National Park hosts about 12 private luxury 4 and 5 star safari lodges.  Adjoining Kruger on it's western boundary are a number of private "Big 5" game reserves offering some of South Africa's premier safari accommodation.

Private game reserves and Kruger Park both have pros and cons; accommodation, including luxury lodges located in Kruger National Park have the advantage of access to much larger areas and therefore different habitats, landscapes and wildlife.

Private game reserves are relatively independent of government legislation which for example allows game viewing vehicles to drive off-road to follow wildlife sightings.  Accommodation is of the highest standard, however, with the exception of riverine habitat, much of the region forming the western boundary of Kruger National Park (private game reserves) is of the same habitat and landscape and can occasionally limit wildlife variety and concentrations .

Kruger Park is 2 million hectares where as many private game reserves comprise of between 550 and 5000 hectares.
Accommodation, food and service is excellent.  Spectacular game viewing, for comfort and luxury, look no further.
The whole eastern boundary of Kruger National Park forms a border with Mozambique, the Lebombo Mountains, this range stretches the entire length of Kruger forming a natural barrier.

Vast stretches of Mozambique's 2500km coastline is an unspoilt paradise. Some of the worlds highest vegetated coastal dunes are found here along with coconut lined white sandy beaches washed by the azure warm tropical Indian Ocean.

Relaxing in private comfort is what we at Tread Lightly Tours and Safaris aspire to provide.  We have chosen a select few beach lodges for their location, privacy and comfort.

Combination safaris which include Mozambique and Kruger National Park or one of the private game reserves make for an incredible, unforgettable tavel experience.

We enter Mozambique directly from Kruger Park, it's still very underdeveloped so safaris including Mozambique require some careful planning and we recommend at least a 5 night stay.
Tread Lightly Tours & Safaris operate monthly photographic safaris, arriving & departing Kruger Park on Saturdays
(8 days).

We've designed these photographic tours for just 3 guests which means each photographer will have a row of seats to him/herself ensuring you'll be able to optimise wildlife sightings on both sides of the safari vehicle.

Why 8 days?

We'll we've worked out most guests can leave their homes on a Friday and be able to return home the following week arriving on a Sunday in time to commence a normal working week on Monday.  However, we're only too happy to plan an itinerary just for you, let us know.
